mailcheck Now Works in Outlook.com and SFR Mail (Beta)

Version 0.1.5 of the extension brings open tracking to two new webmails, in beta: Outlook on the web for personal accounts, and SFR Mail. It also covers every Zoho Mail region and puts a click switch on each email. Here is what changed, and what beta means in practice.

Table of contents

What is new in 0.1.5

  • Outlook.com, in beta, for personal accounts on outlook.live.com.
  • SFR Mail, in beta, the webmail of the French operator SFR.
  • Every Zoho Mail region: thirteen addresses instead of three.
  • A Clicks ON switch on each email, next to Tracking ON.
  • The mailcheck switches now sit together in their own bar in the compose window.

Outlook.com, in beta

Outlook was the client we were asked about most, and until now our answer was no, as we wrote in email tracking in Outlook Web. It is now yes for personal accounts: Outlook.com, Hotmail and Live addresses, which all open on outlook.live.com. The same Tracking ON switch appears in the compose window, and opens arrive as notifications and in your dashboard like any other email.

Two things are not covered. Work and school accounts, which open on outlook.office.com, are not supported yet. And Outlook desktop, the installed application, remains out of reach for any browser extension.

SFR Mail, in beta

SFR Mail, at webmail.sfr.fr, is the webmail of the French operator SFR, and plenty of freelancers and small businesses still run their business from an sfr.fr address. Same switch, same tracking, and the same filter that keeps your own rereads out of the count.

Every Zoho region

The extension previously recognised three Zoho addresses: zoho.com, zoho.eu and zoho.in. A user in Canada, whose mailbox lives on zohocloud.ca, found that the switch never appeared for them. Checking every region properly turned up ten missing addresses. All thirteen are now covered; the full list, and how to tell which one you are on, is in Zoho Mail data centres.

Clicks, email by email

Click tracking used to be a single account setting. It is now a switch on each email, so you can turn it on for a proposal and leave it off for everything personal. Your dashboard setting becomes the starting position. When to use it is covered in click tracking, email by email.

What beta means here

Webmails change their pages often and without warning, and every change can move the place where the extension adds its switch. Beta means we have tested Outlook.com and SFR Mail on the cases we know, and expect you to find some we do not.

If the switch does not appear, or an open looks wrong, tell us through the contact form with the address shown in your browser bar. We read every report and fix what you find. You can also check at any time whether our services are up on the status page.

Getting the update

Version 0.1.5 is rolling out through the Chrome Web Store, and Chrome installs extension updates on its own, usually within a few hours of a new version being published. You can check which version you have on the chrome://extensions page. Nothing to reinstall, and your tracking history is untouched. Every release is listed in the changelog.

Conclusion

With 0.1.5, mailcheck tracks opens in Gmail, in every Zoho region, and in beta in Outlook.com and SFR Mail, with clicks decided email by email. If you use one of the new webmails, we would like to hear how it behaves in yours.
